ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THE DAY'S CYCLING
Thank you very much for expressing an interest this year's Bennachie Bike Ride.
This year’s ride is 23 miles long, a distance to present a real challenge, but not outwith your capabilities, but there will be the opportunity to take a short cut if you wish. The money raised will go to Inverurie West Parish Church.
Those who have not taken physical exercise for some time should start practising now to gradually build up the miles. Make sure your bike is in good working order, and, in the interests of your own safety a helmet must be worn on the ride.
Rules of the road must be followed at all times. This is not a race. You may take as long as you wish, as there is no time limit. Great care must be exercised at right hand turns. Never ride more than two abreast.
All under 12’s must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the ride.
START: Riders should arrive at Fetternear Hall (where there is parking) from 12 noon in plenty of time for unloading bikes and registering. REGISTRATION: Will be available from 12 noon to 12:45 at the hall. All participants must register and sign the disclaimer form, after which they will be given a number. The bike ride starts at 1 p.m. prompt – please do not be late.
Fetternear Hall lies approximately 2 miles NW of Kemnay – see map.
ROUTE: See separate tab for map of the route. It will be well marked and marshals will be in position at important junctions.
FINISH: Return your number as proof of completion.
CLOTHING: This will be your own choice, but it is advisable to take a little extra. If the weather turns inclement, a cagoule or similar will help keep the wind out. Remember your helmet.
FOOD: Take a little, especially if you are going to spend a long time gong round and remember your filled water bottle. There will be a refreshment stop en route where you can refill your water bottle and a welcome cup of tea, coffee or juice at the end.
SPONSORSHIP: As far as possible sponsorship money should be paid over on the day. This saves in administration costs and time. Promised sums should be collected as quickly as possible after the event and paid to the organiser no later than 30 September You should aim for as much sponsorship ‘up front’ as you can, and your sponsors will welcome the chance to give you a donation on the spot. Of course, you must respect the wishes to those who want to know you’ve completed the task first! Cheques should be made payable to 'Bennachie Bike Ride'.
Many thanks.
